John Doe returns to Bringaham after hearing that Armani has been sentenced to death (for the crime of flirting) in order to win the hand of Rose (Armani’s ward and betrothed).
Alas, when he returns, he finds out that not only did Armani escape execution but he has been promoted to the position of Lord High Executioner - and will be marrying Rose at the end of the day! To make matters even more complicated, John Doe is the son of the Grand Duke in disguise…

From Gilbert and Sullivan’s famous The Mikado, The Grand Duke is a stageplay adaptation updated for a contemporary audience. Retaining some of its musicality and all of the wit from the original, John Calini has developed this classic operetta into an energetic farce for all ages.
